The Government of India in 1920 decided that the proposed institution should be an All India Institution financed by the Central Government and be named Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad. The Indian School of Mines was formally opened by his Excellency The Vice Roy Lord Erwin on 9th. December, 1926. Professor
- Pay - Rs. 37,400 - 67,000/-, Additional Grade Pay - Rs. 10,000/-
- Age - 53 years OBC (55 years for SC,ST,PH)
- PhD with first class OR equivalent at the preceding degree in appropriate branch with a consistently good academic record.
- Experience - Minimum 10 years experience of which at least 4 years at the level of Associate Professor or equivalent.
Associate Professor
- Pay - Rs. 37,400 - 67,000/-, Additional Grade Pay - Rs. 9,000/-
- Age - 43 years OBC (45 years for SC,ST,PH)
- PhD with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in appropriate branch with a consistently good academic record.
- Experience - Minimum 6 years experience of which at least 3 years at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent.
- Pay - Rs. 15,600 - 39,100/-, Additional Grade Pay - Rs. 6,000/-
- Age - 38 years OBC (40 years for SC,ST,PH)
- Ph.D. with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in appropriate branch with a consistently good academic record.
